Saturday
We’ll leave in the morning to travel up to Carlisle and our first
overnight stop at the Crown & Mitre Hotel.
Sunday
We arrive at the Dundonnell Hotel, an impressive country house
hotel in a spectacular location in Little Broom, where the mountains meet the sea in the beautiful scenery of Wester Ross.
Monday
An excursion to the picturesque dishing village of Ullapool. Either spend the day at leisure there, or take an optional cruise to the Summer Isles. On the return journey we visit the Corrieshalloch Gorge.
Tuesday
Beautiful scenic coastal drive with a lunch stop at Rhiconich Hotel to admire the lovely views and beautiful surroundings of Loch Inchard and the mighty peaks of Foinhaven and Arkle, and then continue the scenic drive to Durness, the most north-westerly village in Scotland and a mile away from the spectacular Smoo Cave, a sea cave which you can explore from the car park or cliffs above. Then across to the attractive village of Tongue and drop back down to Lairg and on to our hotel.
Wednesday
Full day excursion to Kyle of Lochalsh and Eilean Donan Castle, set on an island where three Lochs meet, and used as a film set in Highlander, Entrapment and Victoria the Golden Years.
Thursday
We go to Inverewe Gardens in Poolewe, built on a craggy hillside with a majestic setting on the waters edge of Loch Ewe. Despite being on the same latitude as Siberia, the warming waters of the of the Gulf Stream allow all
manner of exotic plants to flourish in this most surprising of locations. We go on to Gairloch Bay for lunch, down to Loch Maree and then afternoon tea at
Achnasheen, travelling up to Garve then back to our hotel for our last night.
Friday
We travel down the country to our overnight hotel at the Swallow Hilltop in Carlisle.
Saturday
We start our homeward journey arriving home early evening.
